Woman faces drunk driving charges after head-on crash

There are a few ways that a night of drinking could change your life, and few of them are good. An argument with a loved one could start a rift, or a drunken scuffle can lead to serious injuries. One of the worst messes that happens when a person is intoxicated is that the person may not even remember them.

The law enforcement authorities in Georgia may get involved if an intoxicated person is exhibiting dangerous or disorderly behavior. But perhaps the most common or well-known type of intervention is when police believe someone is driving a car or truck under the influence of alcohol.

A woman from Atlanta was recently arrested in Cobb County after her car crashed head-on into a sport utility vehicle. Police say she was on the wrong side of the road, which led to the collision.

"Upon contact with the accused I detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her, her eyes were bloodshot/glassy, and her speech was slurred," the arresting officer recorded in the woman's arrest warrant.

The defendant exercised her right to refuse a breath alcohol test, also called a Breathalyzer, as affirmed recently by the Georgia Supreme Court. This is because people should not have to provide evidence against themselves.

People facing drunk driving charges always have the right to the best legal defense in court or during negotiations with prosecutors. An attorney can help defendants and their families work to find a way to get out of the trouble they are facing and get on with their lives.
